Activities: How You Can Oppose Torture

Go to the National Religious Campaign Against Torture (NRCAT) website and Endorse these Principles:

www.nrcat.org – Click on: Tell the President: Ban Torture

 

Go to the “No Torture” “No Exceptions” website and send a message to the presidential candidates to reject torture www.rejecttorture.org

Express a public witness against torture in a: sermon, prayer in worship, a vigil, banner, etc. names of Guantanamo detainees and some stories
   
Use bulletin inserts from MNYRCAT or place a notice in your congregation's bulletin regarding the National and the local religious campaign against torture.

Show Videos as a basis for discussion
   
Invite a speaker from a religious group, the Bellevue/NYU Survivor's of Torture, or human rights group to discuss the issue with your congregation.
